ESI Group
Organic and biomolecules serve as novel highly functional building blocks to design innovative nano-scale electronics, sensors and novel materials. In the ESI group, we are preparing ultra-pure layers from such molecules on solid supports using an in-house developed electrospray - controlled ion beam deposition system (ES-CIBD*). UHV conditions allow to assess structure and self-organization behavior (self-assembly) without interfering contaminants like neutral gas, fragments and debris. Subsequent analysis tools applied comprise modern surface technologies like scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy.
