PhD studentship in extragalactic astrophysics

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA), located in the beautiful Munich/Garching area with world-class centers for astrophysics in southern Bavaria, Germany. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Dr. Sherry Suyu on extragalactic studies of gravitationally lensed transients. TUM/MPA have direct access to the full suite of the European Southern Observatory facilities, and excellent computing facilities. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing and future imaging surveys including Euclid and the Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time. TUM, MPA and the neighboring institutes in Garching/Munich host a strong research program in astrophysics and provide a stimulating environment.

Applications for the PhD studentship are open to students from all countries. The appointment is expected to start in late 2024 and requires the completion of a MSc degree.
