Advanced Methods for Collider Physics WS 2025/2026

This block course covers advanced analytical and numerical methods for collider physics calculations.
The topics we plan to cover are:
- Basics of QCD and scattering amplitudes
- Integration-by-parts relations for Feynman integrals
- Calculation methods for Feynman integrals (e.g., differential equations, sector decomposition, ...)
- Methods for collider physics predictions (e.g., factorisation, UV and IRC singularities, PDFs, phase space integration, Monte Carlo methods, and jet algorithms)
- Jet substructure
- Higher-order calculations and event simulations (e.g., subtraction and slicing methods, parton showers, and parton shower matching)
General information
The course will take place over two weeks at the end of the Vorlesungszeit WS25/26: from March 2nd to March 11th.
Time: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon, for a total of approximately 24hrs of lectures and 12hrs of exercises. The exercise classes will include hands-on sessions and tutorials.
Location: TUM, Physics Department, Garching. Room: 5101.EG.502 (Physik Hörsaal 2)
